Monday, October 3rd Pets, Letter "P" and so much fun

The first day of the month is so exciting.  The kids recognized all the new themes and monthly items right away.  We also had our first brightly colored Holiday on the calender.  They were so excited to count down the days until Halloween.  Sorry I just couldn't resist.  Then came all the excitement about their costumes, they couldn't wait to tell each other what they were going to be.

We are learning the letter "P"  and our theme this week is Pets. We started the day learning about the letter P and what starts with P.  They were able to practice writing the Letter P and point to picture like pumpkin, and pencil...etc.

Our Friendly Preschool Pets

Have your kids tell you about our Preschool Pets.  Today we played a game  "Who eats this?"    Each bag was full of pet food and had a shape attached to it.  Each pet had their name attached to them with a shape on their name tag.  The kids got to match the food with the pet.  They first tried to guess which food went to which pet, but after I showed them the shapes it was much easier.

Talk to your kids about the biggest responsibility of owing a pet.  They must make sure that the pet if fed.

They are learning to sing " BINGO" clapping and singing each time a letter is removed.  It is a new concept and is going to be a favorite song of theirs this month.

Puppy Puppets were fun to glue and color.

They also played a matching game.  Which animal lives Where?   They matched pictures of animals to picture of the habitat they live in.

Our snacks today were Peaches and Pretzels.

We read a story about a PET SHOW, by Ezra Jack Keats,  it was about a boy who brought his cat to a pet show.

They are also learning to know what their names look like and to recognized them.  I know that some of them can write their names already, but it is different concept to recognize it in different settings.  They now have to find their spot at the snack table by the names on their cups.
